US History has found much debate on the problem of tyranny within American society, over equality for slaves and women. ![]() ![]() The Fathers sought to avoid the evil found in what ancient philosophers called 'tyranny'.Ī usurpation of power by a single individual or group for their own benefit. Our Founding Fathers used instruction from the history they knew while debating our Constitution, concerned a democratic republic they envisioned, may someday collapse as Aristotle had warned that equality would bring about instability.
